Our inaugural Maine Leadership Retreat is planned for 2019 at the Sebasco Harbor Resort on picturesque Casco Bay, within easy driving distance from Portland.
Experience cutting edge leadership programs by day and lobster bakes and s’mores by night!
BUT Why Maine? AND Why ANOTHER retreat?
We have all been to retreats where we run from session to session, deluged with information to incorporate into our lives. And yet we seldom do, because we are not able to create the time and space to think intentionally about how to do so. We’re in Maine to unplug and be present in the moment. The Maine Leadership Retreat fosters an intentionality to translate new learning experiences and frameworks into measurable and sustainable leadership practices in a small group setting.
While there will be an overarching retreat agenda, the driving force is the personal implementation plan that each attendee will develop to execute after the retreat is over—that is where the real work will be realized and will begin. If you join us at the Maine Leadership Retreat, you will be positioned to do just that. And we will continue to engage with you after the retreat, offering fresh perspectives and checking in on your progress. You’ll find that our unique skills set us apart.
OUR UNIQUE SKILLS SET US APART
HOW IS YOUR APPROACH DIFFERENT?
Maine Leadership’s approach is based on current best practices arising from our team’s extensive corporate, government, non-profit, research, and academic experience.
The heart of the program is the concept of Leadership, Inside and Out.
INSIDE LEADERSHIP encompasses work on self-awareness and visioning that gives you the opportunity to understand where you are as a leader, where you want to go, and what you need to get there.
OUTSIDE LEADERSHIP encompasses the ideals of facilitative leadership through work on communication skills, messaging, inclusive practices, and conflict competence. The focus here is to explore what you can do as a leader to influence and inspire others in their leadership journeys.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Are you a business person who is:
• In a leadership position or aspiring to be?
• Interested in a comprehensive understanding of leadership?
• Open to change—both professionally and personally?
• Committed to an investment in your professional growth for real, tangible results?
What Do I Get For My Investment?
You will leave the retreat with:
• Increased self-awareness of leadership style and strengths
• Connection of self-awareness to leadership potential and opportunity for growth
• A compelling leadership vision and new practices for intentionally achieving this vision
• Exposure to facilitative leadership approaches and best practices
• Tangible skills to take your leadership to the next level
• Results from a strengths-based inventory
• Insights and inspiration from a one-on-one coaching session with one of our facilitators
Soft Skills and ROI
In his seminal book, Emotional Intelligence, Daniel Goleman points to examples where high-IQ scoring students have struggled in their practical lives while average intelligence students have achieved phenomenal success. The reason, he explains, is that IQ is not the only predictor of success—emotional intelligence (EI) also plays a role. At the Maine Leadership Retreat, we will spend time on emotional intelligence, delving into how to translate and strengthen your EI skills to enhance your leadership.
How do I REALLY cultivate my growth?
Join the upcoming leadership retreat in 2019 to kick-start your leadership growth! Unplug and plan. Experience hands-on, thoughtful ways to enhance your strengths and capabilities. A Positive Change Trinity: Lean, Servant Leadership, and Maine
by William I. Maxwell and Joyce T. Gibson
This article is a call to action for Maine’s entrepreneurial servant leaders. We believe you can be a prime catalyst for positive change in Lean/Continuous Improvement initiatives across Maine. We are proposing that Maine’s servant leaders leverage the tool of Lean/Continuous Improvement to ignite a positive shift in organizational cultures. Our positive change trinity encompasses (1) Lean/Continuous Improvement as the process map of how to achieve new, sustainable growth; (2) servant leadership as the synergist that humanizes this growth in the territory of Maine workers’ lived experience; and (3) Maine’s forward-thinking businesses as the real-world hosts for this growth. <read more>
